This is my 16th year as an English teacher, but my 13th at Mt. Ararat. I earned my BFA in Film, Photography and Visual Arts from Ithaca College in 1998 with a minor in Writing. I caught the teaching bug during a 1998-1999 stint as an AmeriCorps volunteer teaching English and Math in rural Winthrop, WA. (population 500)
After marriage and children I returned to school and completed the ETEP teacher education program at University of Southern Maine, receiving my teaching certificate in May 2008, continuing taking classes and earning my Masters degree in Teaching and Learning in May, 2012. My wife is a Nurse Practitioner and we live happily with our 15 year old son, Arlo the dog & a feisty tomcat.
Sometimes I write about my experiences, so I've made a blog to publish musings on education. You can check it out if you want to see how my mind interacts with this job.
