I’m Jason Prince- an English teacher at Mt. Ararat High School. If our Advisory rosters stay stable, I’m your new advisor for the next four years. I’ve been at Mt. Ararat for 10 years and you will be my third “batch” of incoming freshmen that I get to see through the highs and lows of each academic year of high school until you graduate. We’ll see each other a lot- even during these hybrid months when you’re not in school as often as a “normal” year. Advisory will be your “home base” in the high school, and with any luck, it will begin to feel like your home in the school over time. I hope we can develop a trusting interpersonal relationship this year.
Boy, it sure is a strage time to be entering high school. I’m incredibly excited to meet you and start a great school year yet at the same time I must admit that I feel a little apprehensive, too. You’ll have all the regular questions like “where is Mr. Innis's room?” and "how do I fill out the bathroom pass?". Since so much that I used to take for granted will be new to me this year, I may be a little slower than usual to answer them. The good news is that I'm a pretty stubborn person when it comes to finding solutions. You'll get what you need.
I’m also one of those teachers who take a long time learning student’s names. I’m worried that the mask use and the distancing rules will prevent us from connecting as quickly as we otherwise might so, if I get your name wrong, please politely correct me and don't take it personally.
However, all of these are merely concerns, I’m not going to them overwhelm me.
I try to manage the onslaught of information from the school with this web page. I'll update it from time to time with information that I think is important to you Freshpeople that you may have missed in all of the noise. I've found that however wonderful technology is, between Google Classroom, email. keeping up with social media, learning new apps and just remembering all my passwords can be pretty daunting. It's really hard to stay organized and really easy to miss something. Please listen to the announcements and read all of your email, but I hope you find this site a shorthand for some of the complications of high school.
If you have a suggestion for this page, please let me know. I think it's important to find streamlined ways to deliver information.
So here's to a good year! And then another, and then another. Soon this pandemic will be nothing but a peculiar memory. Can you imagine?
See you in room 142,
mrp
